The State Historical Museum of the Southern Urals is a museum of the history of the Chelyabinsk region. Opened in 1923. The fund is more than 250 thousand units of storage.

The museum has ancient photographs, paintings of the XVIII-XX centuries, old documents and rare books, household items and clothes of Russians, nomads and Tatar-Bashkir tribes, art castings, Zlatoust engraving, ancient coins, mineralogical collections, bones of extinct animals and stuffed existing ones.
Archaeological finds stored here in the Southern Urals date from the Eneolithic to the early Middle Ages.
