The Vologda Region is one of the largest regions in European Russia, stretching 350 km from north to south and 650 km from west to east. The official brand of the Vologda Region is "The Soul of the Russian North". It includes, first of all, a favorable combination of geographical location, natural potential and rich cultural and historical heritage. The region is located in the very middle of the road between the two capitals - Moscow and St. Petersburg. Russia's largest road, railroad and water arteries intertwine here. Air transportation is provided by the airports of Vologda, Cherepovets (international airport) and Veliky Ustyug.
The region is the keeper of more than 3500 objects of cultural heritage. The main centers of cultural monuments of the Vologda Region are Vologda, Cherepovets, Kirillov, Veliky Ustyug, Belozersk, Totem, Vytegorsk districts.
